Legend has it that Langkawi's name is made up of the eagle or 'helang' as known in the Malay Language. 'Lang' for short and in Malay, 'kawi' means reddish brown; thus Langkawi simply means reddish brown eagle.

Located on the South-Western coast of Langkawi, Casa del Mar is merely a 10-minute ride from Langkawi International Airport and within close proximity to Kuah Town. All Casa del Mar guests are offered transfers to and from the airport in air-conditioned comfort. The cost is RM 10.00 per journey per person. If arriving at the ferry terminal there are plenty of taxis available and a one-way fare will cost around RM16.00.
